What is Guitar Pro?
Guitar Pro is a multitrack editor of guitar and bass tablature and musical scores, possessing a built-in MIDI-editor, a plotter of chords, a player, a metronome and other tools for musicians. It has versions for Windows and Mac OS X and is written by the French company Arobas Music.
Why Should I Use Guitar Pro?
Every single one of our book releases is accompanied by that title's corresponding Guitar Pro files. This means that in addition to your printed or digital book, you'll have access to that entire transcription - viewable in the Guitar Pro software. GP is an unbelievable tool for diving deeper into our transcriptions.
While the benefits of using GP to better your playing are pretty endless, among them are:
- Slow down / speed up sections to learn more accurately
- Transpose a section or entire song to the tuning you are set up for
- Easily access fretboard diagrams for any note, section, or associated scales or chords
- Click the link above to learn more about the many benefits of the software
Where Can I Get Guitar Pro
Since Guitar Pro is a third party program, you will need to buy the software from them.
We do have a lovely relationship with the GP family though, and they have been nice enough to provide us with a discount link for SH customers through our website. If you use the following link, you will be directed to purchase the GP software at 20% off (or use promo code SHEETHAPPENSGP7)!
What Version of GP files does Sheet Happens offer?
In our short history, Sheet Happens has offered both GP6 and GP7 files.
Any book released in 2019 or earlier will be accompanied by GP6 files (.gpx file extension).
Any book released in 2020 and forward will be accompanied by GP7 files (.gp file extension).
The good news is that if you have a copy of the Guitar Pro 7 software, you will be able to access any of our files, no problem! GP7 opens all previous version's file extensions (GP6, GP5, etc)
Since Arobas (the company who make GP software) no longer offer support on GP6, we needed to look to provide files which worked with the newest software available. GP7 functions much more smoothly than GP6, not to mention Arobas offers frequent updates to the software which can be accessed by any GP7 owner.
