Introduction

By now we’ve all seen and heard the kind of wild instrumental gymnastics occurring on the last Intervals record “Circadian”, not just by Aaron, but by all of the players involved in this fantastic record. And as you’ve likely gathered by this point, this latest SH playing contest is shining the spotlight on the ultra talented bassist of this LP, Jacob Umansky. The section in the video below, from the song “String Theory” is a great example of the range of techniques implemented in his playing, and his unique approach to writing. Lots of flare and technicality, but always with a focus on what the song needs from its rhythm section.
In celebration of the recent release of “Intervals - Circadian - The Complete Bass Transcription”, we’re inviting all of you 4/5//6 (not that six, the other six) stringers to take a shot at this passage & to win some great Intervals / Sheet Happens prizes! Check out the video, and the contest rules below!
