Q:Where is Sheet Happens based?

Q:Why print books?

We have used and continue to use guitar album transcriptions and reference books to learn new songs and techniques. There is nothing like having the physical book in front of you. (especially when it lays flat while you learn ;) Growing up, we noticed tons of mistakes in big publisher books and we knew they weren't inspected or approved by the bands we loved. Now, we are committed to releasing accurate and band approved works of art. Put our books against any big publisher and you will notice the difference!

Q:How do you transcribe the books?

We do all the tabbing in Guitar Pro 6. There's a lot of really good transcription software out there, but we've found Guitar Pro to be the best for guitar related music. You can get 20% off the full version software if you buy it through this link! Most of our books are transcribed using "studio stems" for each project. These are isolated tracks of every musical instrument on any given album. They provide unmatched clarity when it comes to hearing what is actually played - and thus provide the best source for accurate transcription. We then take the notation to the actual artist and edit with them personally. We work as long as it takes to get their full approval of the project before sending to print. It's an arduous process - but one that separates us from the pack. We wouldn't do things any other way.

Q:How many people work for Sheet Happens?

We are always growing. We have 5 dedicated transcribers now who are basically miracle workers given the difficulty of the content we throw at them! (Peter, Sungjun, Tom and Daniel take care of guitars and bass, while Julien is the master of all things drums). Luke runs the company, heading up every project and release as well as annoying the hell out of our artists for edits, artwork and extra content. He also still inputs every order himself and does all the customer service personally. Tim looks after the financial side of things along with our friend Jordan. Luke's dad got replaced by our friend Milen - he works wonders in the shipping department. Paul Hoskin still chips in when we are stretched thin in the shipping department - he still only accepts payment in the form of coffee (decaf). Our long-time friend and sarcastic influencer John takes care of the beautiful layouts of our books as well as the web side of things. New site coming soon! Finally, our printer Marinos does all the printing and binding. He's been with us since day one, and that's not going to change any time soon!

Q:How are the books bound?

All of our books are spiral bound. We believe it should lie flat when you are trying to read it. This way, they are also music stand friendly and you don't have to 'break the back' of the book to read it properly. The spiral binding is plastic (instead of metal) to make sure it is flexible and doesn't warp in the shipping process. It also saves on the over all shipping weight!

Q:What kind of paper stock do you use?

We use a heavy enough stock that the pages will never tear (this doesn't apply to your pooch) and a light enough stock so the books don't weigh a ton when we ship them. Unless otherwise stated, the book specs look like this: 14pt front and back covers with high gloss UV finish. Black or White plastic coil binding. 70 lbs offset pages printed on 98 bright white superior stock.

Q:How long will it take to get my book?

With the new website, now YOU control how long it takes. We are able to offer multiple shipping methods all over the planet. That way, you are in control of the shipping price and the estimated delivery date. You will see once you start checking out with our online shopping cart - it will give you different shipping options and prices. It will also tell you the estimated delivery date of your package. We are committed to staying on top of orders and customer service so you are in good hands when you place an order with us! One note of caution: if you select "Surface Mail" shipment method of any kind, you are basically saying you are one patient individual. These are literally go land and sea only - so you can imagine they can take a while. Often times, much longer than what Canada Post quotes...

Q:How can I track my package?

Just click on the Order Tracking menu button and toss in your order number. You can find your order number in the automatic email you will get from us when you place your order. It is also provided for you when you checkout from the store. The page will let you know if your order has been Accepted, Processed, or Shipped. If you choose a shipping method such as Expedited or Xpress Mail where you are provided with tracking numbers, you will receive additional emails from Canada Post with that number. You then would go to the provided address to track your unique package.

Q:How much time will pass between placing the order and shipping?

For Printed Books: We will usually have your order processed and shipped 2-3 business days after you have completed your order. Keep in mind that weekends and holidays WILL disrupt this quote. For Digital Ebooks: The digital books (as well as the accompanying digital components to printed books) are INSTANT! Q:How do your Digital Music Books work?

The digital books (as well as the accompanying digital components to printed books) are INSTANT! You will be redirected to a download page where you can grab everything at once. Make sure you don't have a pop-up blocker on which may block this redirection. As a backup, you will also receive an automatic email from us with another link to your purchased digital orders. Sometimes, your junk mail will filter these (depending on your junk mail settings). Make sure you check your junk mail before you assume it was never emailed to you - as well as checking / confirming your proper email address supplied upon purchase. Finally, we recommend that you initially download your digital files with a laptop or desk top computer. We have to compress the files to save you time and space and phones and tablets often have problems with compressed files. We suggest you download with a computer first and then transfer the unpacked files to you phone or tablet should you desire to view them on those devices. Q:Where else can I buy your music books?

We are predominantly an online company - finding our books in stores will be a challenge no matter where you live. Take comfort in the fact that you are getting it straight from the source when you order through us. Buying or selling our used books through Amazon, Ebay or other giant online outlets negatively affects us and more importantly, our artists. Please buy directly from us at www.sheethappenspublishing.com - this is the only way the artists will actually see the proper royalties on each sale. And the only way we will be able to continue to grow as an artist-friendly business.

Q:Do you stock bands with their books while they are on tour?

We encourage all of our artists to take their books on tour with them. Whether it's the printed book or a digital substitute (like a custom USB card), we offer a very fair wholesale price to our artists. This way they can ensure that they have a beautiful piece of merch to sell, and also make a bit of profit while out on the road.

Q:I am an artist / part of a band and can't transcribe the music myself. Will you do this for me / us?

Unfortunately, we have become too busy dedicating our time to transcribing and printing only established bands books. We work hard to a create a new source of revenue which many bands haven't realized. Because of this, it's important we choose well-established bands who will get behind their books as much as we do. Because of this, we are no longer able to offer free lance transcriptions or book layouts, sorry!

Q:How secure is this store?

Our store uses PayPal for payments, and PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to ours using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available).

Q:Do I need a PayPal account to purchase from this store?

No, you are not required to have a PayPal account to purchase from this store. Although if you already have a PayPal account you may use it.
